Help with PC dongle adapter?

I recently purchased a dongle device to allow me to synchronize my Xbox 360 wireless controller to my PC. I used the CD that came with the package but it says that there's a compatibility issue. So I went to Microsoft's website and downloaded the Windows 7 64bit Xbox 360 wireless Controller for Windows. And I still can't get my controller to synchronize with the device.

Just some other things I've tried:

Different batteries

Different controller

Tried Synchronizing with the Xbox

And yes I'm running 64bit Windows 7 OS

Any help? I'd love to get this thing working soon.

Update:

Yeah I even went to microsoft's site on how to properly sync a device. I followed those instructions and it still didn't work.

yes the console version works on the pc but it has bugs and glitches and sometimes its not responsive

if you want a 360 controller buy the pc version not the console one they might look the same but they are no

i have console version and it barely works on windows 7

if you have a xbox from 2009 and below it will not work becuase the controllers might have another hardware version installed into them i have 2 xboxes and the one from 2006 controller does not work at all with pc and the one of 2011 works barely but i bought the pc and it works flawless

    edit

is the pc version or the console controller on the dongle device just press the middle button until it blinks
