Bike tyre recommendations?

I'm looking to replace my current 26x1.90 tyres for thinner ones, I'm looking at around 26x1.50, with a slick tread to improve the speed of my bike. But I'm not sure about the best quality brands when it comes to tyres, or specifically which ones to get. I don't want to spend more than £20 on each tyre.

I came across these tyres, what do you think?

You could try Continental Sport Contact, they are available in 26 X1.3 and 26 X1.6.

I've used the 700c size of these, and was very impressed with them.

If you want to do the occasional trail, you could try the Continental Travel Contact, they have a slick centre tread, with studs around the edges.

See the attached links. Most reputable cycle stores should have them, or you could try Wiggle.

EDIT:- Sorry, forgot to say they are a bit above your price range, but they do come with a free tube, and a 12 month anti puncture guarantee.

On top of this, they are long lasting.

Agree with Continental - great tyres, tend to be quite puncture resilient.

The Schwalbe's you mention are OK, though I have no experience of them. Many people use their Marathon Plus tyres to protect from flats. Schwalbe is a good make.

Bontrager tyres are also great. I like the 700c Racelite hardcase tyres, if they do those in 26 then thats a good option for the money. Typically £15 a tyre. Vittoria are also another good make to look at with the Randoneur being an option (if I've spelt them right), also quite cheap and puncture resistant, but not as much as the Bontrager.
