Recurring Hand Foot Mouth Virus?
About 3 months ago I noticed these red spots on my hands. One on my finger and the other on my palm. The first day or two they itched (mildly) but then it stopped but the rashes were still there. They didn't scab, flake, ooze or cause any pain. After about 10 days they went away leaving faint scars, I assumed it was an allergic reaction. 3 weeks later, these spots recur in the same exact place. This time it spread to the bottom of my feet but those went away within 48 hrs. After maybe 2 days I noticed that the roof of my mouth felt like it had been burned. It was the only painful rash. I wasn't able to eat or drink anything. I went to the ER and was told that it was the Hand Foot Mouth virus just from visual examination. The ER doc told me that it is VERY rare in adults and asked if I could have gotten it from my child. I don't have any children. The only children around me are my nephews and neither of them showed any symptoms. The Doc also told me that this will not reoccur and the body usually rejects the virus after its been exposed to it once. The doc game me motrin for the pain in the roof of my mouth and said the virus has to go away on its own there was nothing to treat it. About 4 or 5 days later. They all cleared up...again, leaving very faint scars. Its been about 3 weeks or so and its back! Again, in the same spots! I spoke with a pediatrician I know and she told me she didn't think it was the HAND FOOT MOUTH virus because it doesn't recur. I cant get in to my dermatologist for another 4 days and Im afraid they may go away before I get there. Has anyone ever heard of something like this before? What is it?? Its driving me crazy. I haven't changed my diet. Im known to have sensitive skin so I don't try new fragrances or soaps. Again, these spots aren't painful and they only itch within the first 24 hours of forming but the itching is not severe. They don't blister or ooze. They're just reddish like spots that come back in the same spot every time. No fever, vomitting, or any other of the symptoms of the virus

When I came on to answer your question, I had not finished reading all of it. I thought you might be talking about hoof and mouth disease in your horse. I am not trying to be funny.
What you could do, if you cannot wait, is go to an emergency room. It could be melanoma and that is dangerous, you do not want to wait until it metastasizes and spreads all over your body. You need a doctor not a nut like me on Y/A.

I don t know how old this post is but yes you can get HFM more than once. I currently have it for the third time, second time in 6 weeks. I have preschoolers so likely picked it up from them or preschool. There are 23 different strains of the Coxsackie enterovirus that causes HFM so you can get it at least that many times!
