Is there something mentally wrong with the people who say they cannot type in the links to a web site?

They tell us to remove this or that in the link, and yet doing that is just plain SILLY to me, so what IS their problem?

Update:

Your answers so far are probably correct, but I also see links to well-known websites that are perfectly safe to go to, and the poster STILL insists on modifying the link. I think that is STUPID.

    No, I think what happens is that the people who do that think the link won't post if they give the actual correct URL.

    There are some links that Yahoo will filter out, so violators post the link with a modification to get around that. They tell you to fix the link when you try to actually go to the site.
