Do companies force you to quit your job when you turn 65 years old?

Do they fire you or lay you off when you turn 65, or can you still work if you choose?

    In addition to what the other said, some companies have a mandantory retirement age, it's a way to push out overpaid executives. Ha ha.

    If the people running the company really like you, they will find a way to keep you working there despite the rules. Sometimes what they will do is ask you to sign up with a temporary service like Kelly Girls or Manpower, and then you continue to work at the company but as an employee of the temporary service, which is one way management can get around its own rules.

    Only if the Federal Law makes that the mandatory retirement Age. A commercial pilot must retire at age 60. So there is No being fired, the company just puts down RETIRED.

    Other professions are age 70 and same thing you are marked as retired.

    No you cannot stay at current job. You of course are free to find a new job. That is why many senior citizens work at WalMart or Home Depot.

    No..except for a few occupations that have mandatory retirement. Otherwise, they open themselves up to an age discrimination charge. And yes, if you retire, you can still look for and accept other work if you choose.
