    Because its expendable,, Sink it and blame it on Iran.. Presto instant reason to go to war.

    Because we're not planning to use it. One of our carriers can destroy most nations on the planet. We use it to threaten people. Though we don't phrase it like that, obviously. But it is to threaten people into compliance.

    They do a pretty good job of that.

    Maybe it had been previously scheduled to be there. Everything we do militarily is not necassarily done with devious intentions.
