Kicker cvr crackle noise?

I just got a kicker cvr 15, and when I turn up my radio, and turn my bass knob up a little, the subeoofer makes a loud crackling sound!?!?! What can be wrong?

    Your speaker has reached its limit and is hitting the end of its travel... back off or you will blow the speaker.
