Canadian EI - Quit your Job and still qualify?

My Employer allows smoking inside, violation of City By-law. Doesn't care. If I bring it up I will be "Creatively Let Go" (trust me, I will). QUESTION: I know you are allowed to quit and still get EI for certain reasons. Would this qualify as an Unsafe Workplace? (Secondhand smoke). Please advise. Thank you.

Better off to call EI with this inquiry. You won't get any answers you can rely upon here. (I'm not sure that EI would give you much of a proactive answer on the point either, though.)

Or better yet, get yourself "creatively let go" as a result of you raising - in writing, of course - a health and safety concern in good faith. Not only is that less likely to disentitle you to EI, but it could lead to a whole host of other potential remedies.
