UKIP's leader Nigel Farage like the majority of it's members are former Conservatives, in Farage's case a former tory MP. In May 2009, The Guardian reported that Farage had said in a speech to the Foreign Press Association that over ten years as a member of the European Parliament he received £2 million of taxpayers' money in staff, travel, and other expenses on top of his £64,000 a year salary.

Prince Charles gave a speech to the European Parliament on 14 February 2008, in which he called for EU leadership in the war against climate change. During the standing ovation that followed, Farage was the only MEP to remain seated and went on to describe the Prince's advisers as "naïve and foolish at best."

He stated that "There will be a series of mini civil wars, sort of IRA-style wars," within the EU countries,

They like the BNP are a one policy party, who only appeal to those who have an overpowering hate, with UKIP it is the EU, with the BNP it is anyone who is not "pure white British"

You never hear members of either party put forward constructive ideas on any prospective policies, they cannot see beyond their own blinkered prejudice and bigotry.

Ask yourself who ask all the awkward questions in the EU parliament. Do you ever see the LibLabCON stand up and say it how it is? Can't remember the LibLabCON doing much questioning at all, all they do is accept just about anything that the EU dictate and rubber stamp it. Shamoron recently did have a hissy fit about the banks with Merkosy but that's about it.

You ask if UKIP are up to it.... Well do you seriously reckon the LibLabCON are? Looks like they made a complete mess of things over the last 40 odd years, and UKIP could do no worse.

If they were totally against Europe, why would they fight for seats on the EU? Their aim is to not be ruled by Europe, in terms of laws, financial decisions etc - and the reason for the seats is to fight such legislation as and when it appears. There are many who say the UK should be within the EU as most of our trade is with them - but the EU imposes no trade barriers to countries outside the EU, eg China, USA etc - so as long as the UK remains or is competitive we in theory would not have existing trade harmed. Do we pay in more than we receive out - probably, as otherwise some other country is bailing us out which I doubt.

The irony is this - Germany fought two world wars to dominate Europe through force and were defeated - now they have achieved that very aim via fiscal means. If you doubt me, ask who is calling the shots on Greece, Italy, Portugal etc? Nicholas Sarkozy may think he is part of the decision partnership, but the banks have recently let him know they don't rate the French that high by downgrading their status. The UK, being outside the Euro, maintains its sovereign status to control its fiscal position more easily - given the first point I made, UKIP's ideals seem to be more and more sensible as time goes on - but for one thing!

That one thing is this - oil & gas. In time as reserves weaken and prices go up we ideally need to be in a good negotiating position to keep costs low and ensure pipelines (which have to run across Europe to reach us) are maintained and not diverted. For this reason, and this reason alone, being part of Europe is perhaps a price to pay - but it is a long term view rather than the here and now.

I think they are our only hope.

All the others are not to be trusted, and there is not a UKIP Friends of Israel, which tells you something.
