Could a ''zombie'' virus have this type of function?

Lets have a hypothetical. In most everything involving so called ''zombies'' the only way to kill them is cause the brain to cease functioning, is this even remotely feasible? Or would a functioning respiratory system be required to provide oxygen to the brain? To the point could a virus remove oxygen from the requirements and create something as close to being undead as realistically

possible?

    Depends

On diffrent "Zombie movie" you could find zombies under water and still living so I do not think they need oxygen, Also I have seen where there was just a zombie head and it was still going. So It depends

    1. Only sure fire thing is a spinal Core wound (cant do anything if your paralyzed , Reanimate or not)

    2. Movies A Brain shot ofc.

    3. Maybe oxygen functions but i do not think so.
