Yellow transmit at hue levels that the eye is most sensitive to in the visible spectrum of light. There are elements inside the retina of the eye called photoreceptors, rods and cones, and these receptors are charged differently with their abality to receive light. Cones are sensitive to color transmissions to them but rods do not respond to colors. Therefore cone vision is essentially the path to initiate a subnormal visual process for which color vision are perceived and because they are of different types, the red cones, green cones and the blue cones. There is selective affinity for specific light, the most populated receptors are the red cones, followed by the green cones and the least being the blue cones. Red green will be at advantage reception for which a visual sensation was evoked in the range near yellow. If a person have good vision for all three colors then that group of receptors will be more effective to dominate in the choice of color separation at brain centers.

Yellow is easier on the eyes, as you get older, blue starts to irritate more and is also the spectrum you start to lose first.

If you go to an eye hospital, not sure about other hospitals, then tall their signs should be on yellow backgrounds, reason being is its the last colour in your sight spectrum to disappear or so I've been told and its also the easiest to view with black writing.

I don't think any color is better than others.

but if you want a sensible answer,

yellow usually denotes cheerfulness and optimism while blue denotes either calm or cold.

or go read some psychology about color.
