    Japan

They were Japanese. There were also female ninja. Unlike the samurai, ninja didn't have a code of honor to follow.

I believe ninja can be used to describe one or many.No ' s ' needed.

Ninjas (or Shinobi) originated from Japan.

There were many different types like Iga or Koga ninjas. They were mostly from clans who collected money from Lords who wanted to snuff out an enemy clan. Kunoichi, or Female ninja, were often used for stealth missions.

    I hope this helped. ^^

If you mean the blackclad shuriken throwing assasins in movies and manga, then Japan.

There's a theory that ninjas didn't exist. The word "ninja" was coined after WWII.

At first, Ninja was called "Kusa" or literally "grass."
