I want to become a video game tester?
I have read some online articles that you need to be 15 or older. I am turning 15 in April. If anyone has become a video game tester, can you tell me the steps you took? Also, I already know the requirements for what VGT's have to do.

Firstly, the proper term is Quality Assurance not Video Game Tester. Having proper knowledge of the position title and what-not is important when applying somewhere.
A) These positions are USUALLY contracted terms. This means you work for so long as stated in a contract, and then are released.
B) These positions ALMOST ALWAYS will only hire locals (same city), or people who will re-locate themselves there.
C) Usually the applicants are expected to have some basic programming knowledge and usually the applicants who are applying have Computer Science, Software Engineering or other Degrees from University and are trying to break-into the industry and secure other positions within a company. You are most likely very under-qualified compared to the majority of applicants.
E) This work MAY sound "cool" but it is one of the most mundane jobs. The sole-purpose is not enjoyment, but to find bugs, glitches, etc. and report them in a database. Imagine playing Avatar the Last Airbender for 8-10 hours a day, 5 days a week, looking for bugs. Not much fun.
This is not some part-time job for teenagers. It is a starting position for people looking to make a career in the industry.

They look majorly during the summer, best way to get in is to know someone who is doing it already. The other way is on their website, it's listed as QA or QA Tester. The people who hires in mass in Activision and EA but it will be like a revolving door, make a mistake and your out. Smaller companies tend to hire people who have gaming background, like programming, game design and art because they want to invest in you. It's not a glamorous job, you don't get to choose the game you play, it's broken, it's always broken. Testing Jobs are the entry level of the game industry, you do not go far without a game job related training, but if you want to try it. Go for it. there's always a horror stories. >>> http://trenchescomic.com/

To be honest, playing/"testing" video games before they're released seems like a High-Schooler dream job, but, is it really what you want to do? You may think so now, but is it? Also, what are the chances of a big gaming company hiring you? They already have people in the business who helped design the game, help test the game.

You can really get paid testing the newest video games. There are several companies out there that can send you in development video games, gaming consoles and etc. for you to play. Then you give them your opinion and they send you payment. The difficult part is finding the legitimate businesses.
