The CIA and FBI are both federal investigative agencies. The CIA works cases internationally while the FBI only works within the USA.

The State Police is a law enforcement agency where their jurisdiction is throughout the entire state unlike municipal police who have a jurisdiction only within the boundaries of the city.

The Sheriff's jurisdiction is throughout an entire county to include all the municipalities or cities within the county.
