    BK, bc... l'm not sure. l have two daiwas from back in the early or mid 70s. these were not their first low profile offerings.

    there was also "Lew's" reels, built by ryobi, but were not what you could truly call "low-profile".

    (those two daiwas are still catching fish...)

    but there is the bronson meteor from back in the fifties or sixties, one of which l have in my collection and the #26 invader by J.A,Coxe, from the fifties, perhaps the forties.

    both would be considered "low profile" but were both full size reels.

    on a side note... l don't think l can get away with asking as an official question... "what is a 'big kahuna's ' beverage of choice?" mine is either molson ale or laphroaig single malt scotch.
