Choose who would win out of the following match ups. All fighters are in their respective primes weighing in @ 140 lbs.

1. Kostya Tszyu vs Pernell Whitaker

2. Zab Judah vs Julio Cesar Chavez

3. Manny Pacquiao vs Aaron Pryor

4. Roberto Duran vs Ricky Hatton

Update:

@galactus

lol to be honest I was surprised Judah and Hatton made it out of round 1, nice answer though.

LOL, I must have missed Round 1

Tszyu vs Whitaker: This one isn't hard to call. Whitaker isn't nearly as dumb as his protege, Judah. He would never stand right in front of a power puncher like Tszyu and get nailed with the shot that launched Judah to Palookaville. For all his power and ability, Tszyu would be made to look foolish against the defensive mastery of Whitaker. NO fighter was ever harder to hit.

The fight would actually look closer on points than the truth because Whitaker has never been a favorite to judges who favor aggression. Still, he would be miles ahead on points and enough ahead to score the win.

    Whitaker W 15

Judah vs Chavez: You REALLY don't like Judah do you? Remember how Cotto brutalized him? Cotto is a poor man's Chavez at best. Judah would zip-zap all over Chavez in the early going, winning most of the early rounds. However, for all his might, perhaps, patience has always been Chavez' greatest asset. He would methodically break down Judah's body and sap his stamina, which was never great to begin with.

By round 7, Judah is fighting for survival and holding ever chance he gets while he waits for the referee to rescue him. He runs again and Chavez traps him in yet another corner. As one-sided as the early rounds were, the later rounds are equally as lop-sided, in the other direction. Judah pot-shot Chavez in the early rounds but failed to hurt or discourage him. Chavez patiently planted the seeds of doom with body work, slowing down his fleet-footed adversary.

By the later rounds, Judah has run out of places to run. He receives a warning for excessive holding just before the bell ending round 9. His corner surrenders, sparing him further punishment.

Pacquiao vs Pryor: Both men throw volume punches, pack power and take a punch very well. There is one difference. Look at the number of times Marquez was able to shake Pacquiao in each of their fights. Marquez would never be so tenacious against Pryor. If he did survive early, which is not likely, Pryor would box and pick him apart from the outside.

Pacquiao, for all his might, has one glaring flaw in his style. He leaves himself well off balance when he misses a shot. If he misses the third right, in a combination beginning with the right jab, he sails past his opponent, leaving himself wide open. A counter puncher would nail him. Pryor is no counter puncher but he throws enough punches to catch Pacquiao's mistake.

Pacquiao would score a knockdown early, due to Pryor's recklessness. However, once he settles down, Pryor is a very accurate puncher. Don't be fooled by the "bottle" theory. Panama Lewis is a dirtball who should be dead but Pryor is every bit the fighter you saw in the Arguello fight.

Pacquiao wins the first half of the fight but is caught time and again from round six on. Though he scores a knockdown, he is rocked repeatedly in the later rounds. He survives but loses too many later rounds.

    Pryor W15

Duran vs Hatton: You REALLY must not like Hatton. Remember how Chavez patiently wore down aggressive opponents? Duran does it better. Remember how Pacquiao pulverized Hatton? You don't think Duran could do the same?

This is the easiest of the four fights. There are SO many ways that Duran could win this fight. Hatton's chances would be better if he entered a saw mill blindfolded. Duran isn't the god that some make him out to be. But, at 140, he is as close to the perfect fighter that any "man" ever was. He is accurate and powerful and he has a much better defense than ever given credit for. I REALLY don't see ANY way Hatton can win this one.

I'll be nice and give him one more round than Pacquiao did, as he walked right into that one, for lack of power for his smaller foe. Reckless as he is, Hatton would be a little more careful against the stronger Duran. It wouldn't do him much good.
