Did my Macbook Air overheat?

I got my 15" MacBook Air Dec2011, so I've only had it for a month. Today I was only using Safari and Evermote and Powerpoint, had it plugged into the adapter and it randomly shut off in a split second and I can't get get it to turn back on.

I unplugged it and let it cool for an hour and it still won't turn on. Did it overheat? The adapter felt really hot and so did the labtop, but I'm not sure if that means anything. (I'm not tech savvy so can anyone explain what's going on?) I'm taking it to the store tomorrow because I have a warranty but I still wanna know what others have to say.

Update:

Ok first of all it was definitely ON MY DESK guys....and yeah my bad I meant 13" lol so what does this mean if it was on my desk? Does this mean somethings wrong with.my computer??

You have a 13" MacBook Air and it is under warranty, take it back to apple or phone them first.

Try unplugging the power supply and holding down the on/off switch for 10 seconds, then try restarting it without the power supply and then with it. There's a chance the battery shorted out and that is what is causing the problem.

    Macbook Air Overheating

I own a macbook air. It overheats for me when I run heavy video programs or even light video with other programs. Like, if I run Skype with video and then some other application. I think that's just a limitation of the Macbook Air. Try elevating the rear of the base to increase the airflow of the fan. Make sure, when you use it that it's not on puffy materials. It needs to be on a metal or wood or or other solid, flat surface. If it just overheats with normal applications (like word or safari) running while you are on a flat surface with good airflow, then it is possible that you damaged the chip by it overheating so much. There are also cooling units that you can purchase for laptops. They are thin, they plug into the USB port and they are fans that constantly cool the underside of your computer.

There is no such thing as a 15" Macbook Air (yet).

Yes, you probably fried it. You probably had it sitting on a bed, couch, or some other soft surface that not only blocks ventilation, but also prevents any kind of heat dissipation.

If they ask at the store if you had it on a bed, couch, stomach or some other soft surface, tell them "no" or they may not honor your warranty.

My money is on a hard drive crash. You're lucky in either event that it happened within a month so you can take it back, but this is why the apple care is essential. Hard drives can crash on day 2 or year 6 - you just never know.

Hope they fix you up at the apple store and I hope you back up your files, songs and photos so if this happens again you don't loose much :D

    most likely yes,it overheated

It is not a good idea to put a laptop on your lap or bed because that will block the air vents and your system won't receive enough cool air, which will cause the inside parts to overheat and fail.

This is a very common problem.

Even if it did overheat it would of turned back on within half an hour. take straight to apple.
