What math class should I take next year?
'm in 8th grade, and I take honors geometry, and geometry is a 9th grade class. And it's honors. It's pretty easy, I'm getting an A- right now. Last year I took Algebra 1. I got nothing but B's the entire year. I could have done better, but I think it was just because that was the first year I actually struggled to understand something. I had just breezed through math before, and I wasn't used to having to work hard to get a good grade. And I hated math at the time, but it's grown on me since then. So, now's the time of year that I need to register for next year, (9th grade) and I have two options.
I could take an all year course (we have trimesters) that's called Algebra & Quadratics and Algebra 2. Algebra & Quadratics is basically just a review of Algebra 1. And then I would take regular ol' Algebra 2. If I did this then it would take up an elective space, which I could be using for something else. (most math courses are 2 tris) If I took this option, then I would just have to take Honors Algebra 2 the following year, because that's a requirement for Trigonometry. And taking the easier version first would make Honors Algebra 2 a lot easier.
Or I could skip the first option altogether take Honors Algebra 2. If I did this, then I could take an elective. I think I would be okay in it, but it would be a lot of work. And it has a weighted GPA, the first one doesn't. And it would set me up for Trig & stats as a sophomore, and then calculus. I've always been in advanced math classes, so I don't think it would be bad. I want to be challenged, but I don't want it to be too hard.
I'm torn.

I have a different option.
I say you should just take Honors Algebra 2 in 9th grade.
To make this easier, take an Algebra 2 over the summer. There are many math centers everywhere, or you can even take the class online if you prefer.
This way, Honors won't be that hard, and you can be ahead.

I took geometry in 8th grade too! Haha, anyways, it seems like you're pretty good at math. I had trouble with Algebra 1 too because I had trouble understanding all the new concepts. But honestly, Algebra II is incredibly easy. If you understand Algebra I now, you'll be totally fine for Algebra II. Yeah, it's a little more work than regular Algebra II, but it's really not that hard of a class.
Hope this helps :)
