Global Warming is over!!! So says NASA! IceAge coming?

soooooo, now what is the Global Warming industry going to do? Source: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-209...

Haters -- prove the SCIENCE is wrong. IT ain't, you just mad you drive a Prius while you should have been driving a hummer to stop the ice age.

Update:

To the ding dong who asked where it says global warming is over..... NO WARMING OVER THE LAST 15 YEARS!!! If that doesn't prove it, what would you need???If the data showed warming over the last 5 years the GW crowd would be crying the sky is falling..

Update 2:

LOL Jeff M is saying NASA is rubbish!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What an idiot. Wow.

I think it's refreshing that NASA has maybe woken up to the fact that the SUN drives climate, not the amount of CO2 in the air. Let's hope NASA has broken away from the lies, obfuscation and data tampering introduced by James Hansen. Maybe they can get back to some real science now, that would be nice.

NASA has not said global warming is over. What you been smoking? I also see nothing on the NASA site predicting the River Thames freezing over. if they did it would be in their news link. Unfounded claims only make the deniers look less reputable

In fact they have a new cute climate video showing the warming trend developing from 1880 to present. You can see the earths temp going from cool to warm and in some cases much hotter.

Wow. A lot of people read the Daily Mail. Although it is a fact that the world has been cooling since 1998, I don't think anyone can predict with any certainty how long it will last or how cold (or hot) it will get. It's always nice to see skeptical articles though because I know it drives the alarmists crazy :-)

"How DARE anyone print the facts. You people aren't smart enough to know what drives the climate. The climate is incredibly complex and we've proven that CO2 drives temperature and that temperature is not following CO2 right now because there is missing heat...hiding... in the oceans. And if that proves to be false then it was being masked by Chinese aerosols. And if that proves to be false...well we never really said it was going to get hotter did we? No, we said it was going to get colder...or hotter. Either way we said it, which makes CACW true and doesn't make us look like idiots at all."

So I guess the denier chant of "you can't trust predictions" goes out the window when you think the prediction helps your cause. The problem with that is what is stopped if this prediction is even correct the last such event the LIA caused a drop in temps of ~0.7c, we have already raised temps that much so there goes your ice age, little or otherwise. Funny the story or the experts fail to mention any of this.

As to the experts, the vague reference to University of Alabama is going to be the same old source deniers often try to use and claim as a global temperature source Roy Spencer (his views are not those of NASA)

Then you have expert no.2 Henrik Svensmark, again well known for a long time for his denier views and frankly absurd statements. He has even been sanctioned by the very organisation he used to head for try to pass himself of as still running that group years after he left.

Then you have this from within this sad newspaper story

"it predicted that at least three of the years 2009 to 2014 would break the previous temperature record set in 1998."

Given that we are only just starting 2012 and that 2010 was indeed the warmest year on record, the Mailonline don't seem to be doing much research into their stories.

    http://www.ncdc.noaa.gov/sotc/global/2010/13#gtemp

As for the "pretense" in the story of no warming since 1997 (1998) (they seem to change their mind as to which year) what is this based on the average temps for the decades of the 90s and the 2000's are well known and the 2000's are clearly the warmer decade.

The average yearly temperature for the 1990s was 0.36°c (0.65°f) which includes 1998

the same average for the 2000s was 0.54°C (0.96°F), how any denier can claim cooling from that is beyond me.

    http://www.ncdc.noaa.gov/sotc/global/2009/13#gtemp

!997/98 was marked by the strongest El Nino event of the last century which is what helped make it as warm as it was, it stands out as a spike compared to the year just before and just after it, but in recent years the yearly temps have come close to 1998 without the aid of such a record breaking El Nino, that deniers continue to try and pretend this is not the case shows just how little interest they have in actual science.

Edit: Gosh ****** for a guy so big on rhetoric this guy seems to have no answer to our points.

Whats with this sudden influx of people this same exact unscientific ignorant media propaganda piece? Are you people really that light headed?

The article is a load of rubbish. Have you ever bothered to look up the reason why it was so warm in 1997/1998? Hint: It had nothing to do with solar input nor did it have anything to do with global warming. Here let me give you some help.

    http://www.esrl.noaa.gov/psd/enso/mei/

seriously, news agencies and first time posters as well as denialists need to start looking at the cause and not just give an argument similar to "well it's been warmer before so therefor man can not affect climate". Do you understand how scientifically ignorant that is? Oddly enough though it gets stated in here by the same people about once a day. Of course it depends what dataset you use. Oddly enough UAH is not one of those datasets that shows no warming since 1997, and I am purely talking about the trend not single year occurrences.

    UAH: http://woodfortrees.org/plot/uah/from:1997/to:2012...

    GISS: http://woodfortrees.org/plot/gistemp/from:1997/to:...

    Hadcrut3: http://woodfortrees.org/plot/hadcrut3vgl/from:1997...

    RSS: http://woodfortrees.org/plot/rss/from:1997/to:2012...

    NCDC: http://www.ncdc.noaa.gov/sotc/service/global/globa...

Gee the five trends above all seem to be increasing. I mean whenever the media says something is true it must be true right? Maybe you should stop paying attention to the media and start paying attention to actual science.

Watson: It has nothing to do with NASA, as stated by a poster above. It has everything to do with the Daily Mail. Seriously. give it up. If you want to talk about NASA try going to their site.

    Discussed at length earlier today.

    http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AuDjc...

    <<prove the SCIENCE is wrong>>

The SCIENCE is right. it is just being cherrypicked by The Dailymail, that's the issue.

Question to you: please indicate where NASA says Global Warming is over.

    Edit:

I reiterate my question: Exactly where does NASA say that Global Warming is over?

Hint: read the article you link to a couple of times to understand what NASA actually says and what the Dailymail SUGGESTS it means. There is a BIG difference between the two. That is what usually happens at media with an agenda, particularly if the writer has no idea about science whatsoever. It is the Dailymail!

Hint 2: there is a reason why a 15 year period is picked (as in cherry-picked), you know.

Many of the deniers here are really trolls, they often deny this, but it's pretty obvious when they let their gard slip with comments like Ian's 'I know it drives the alarmists crazy ' and 'Alarmists = Clowns'

Sorry dude I think the best you could manage is to make us feel sorry for your lack of education, that's hardly driving us crazy, if you think it does then you have been sipping to much of that coolaid that deniers seem to like to talk about so often.

I think few of those who answer here regularly are really being fooled by the antics of those like the billies, Ian's, Maxx's and Jim's who post their continuing rubbish here and from the comments I have seen recently many seem to share the view I have of these trolls.

You don't win a debate by driving other away from a forum with piles of tall tails and fiction, people like this add nothing to the debate and should be blacklisted by both sides. There used to be ration deniers here who stuck to the facts, but they seem to have left, probably for fear of being linked to endless communists conspircy theories or the newer Rothschild rubbish or the 'every scientists in the world is out to get us' crap.

To be honest from your insult thrown at jeff you seem to be of the same mindset as those mentioned above.

Fact: Global temperatures are going down according even East Anglia and MET who are two of the biggest proponents of GW.

    Fact: CO2 is still rising.

To any sane individual that would put the even the most foundational portions of the GW theory to bed.

But this won't stop our politicians from trying to raise CO2 taxes and taking away our liberties. It shows what their true agenda is and it is not to save the world as they claim.

Your repeating the same dumb lies heard hundreds of times here already has nothing to do with real science.

U.S. National Academy of Sciences, 2010:

    http://books.nap.edu/openbook.php?record_id=12782&...

“Climate change is occurring, is caused largely by human activities, and poses significant risks for a broad range of human and natural systems.”

    http://nationalacademies.org/morenews/20100716.htm...

“Choices made now about carbon dioxide emissions reductions will affect climate change impacts experienced not just over the next few decades but also in coming centuries and millennia…Because CO2 in the atmosphere is long lived, it can effectively lock the Earth and future generations into a range of impacts, some of which could become very severe.”

    http://www.physics.fsu.edu/awards/NAS/

“The Academy membership is composed of approximately 2,100 members and 380 foreign associates, of whom nearly 200 have won Nobel Prizes. Members and foreign associates of the Academy are elected in recognition of their distinguished and continuing achievements in original research; election to the Academy is considered one of the highest honors that can be accorded a scientist or engineer.”

Sorry, but EVERY measurement shows that global warming is real. Here is one place where they gathered reports from the various scientific agencies in one place. Every one shows global warming.
