''nothing is more dear to me than my honor." Who believes this?

Words spoken in defense of the honor killings in Canada.

The trial is just over with father mother and son convicted of murdering four females ....notes are;......''Jury finds Afghan family guilty in honor killings....Four strong, vivacious and freedom-loving women were murdered by their own family in the most troubling of circumstances"...

Prosecutors said the defendants allegedly killed the three teenage sisters because they dishonored the family by defying its disciplinarian rules on dress, dating, socializing and using the Internet....

following the verdict, Canadian Justice Minister Rob Nicholson called honor killings a practice that is "barbaric and unacceptable in Canada."

Update:

My knowledge of people makes me think there is some counter part behavior in the protestant peoples. Small ratio of course but still showing the same hatred for freedoms.

your own honor is the one thing nobody can take from you. family honor, or lack of, is judged over the whole family, its a bit like the black sheep theory, where every family has one. in worst case, the black sheep should at most be disconnected from the rest of the family so he/she can continue on there own path. killing members of your own family because they don't behave the way you want them to is insane.

Cultural differences. I do value my honor, but certainly not at the expense of killing anyone. They could have just disowned them and kicked them to the curb.
