would 30 min walking straight or 15mins in the morning and afternoon have the same effect ?

30mins continuous is better than 2x15mins

Hi,
The only difference is the pace.
If you do 15 minutes walk at fast pace twice a day.
You get better results.
Why? Because it is not easy to sustain fast pace walking for a 30minutes walk.
And it is too slow for the body to gain any cardiovascular benefits.

I would probably agree with the personal trainer that 30 minutes straight is better ... one of the best questions i've seen on here as it even tricked me and i've done years of research on health and nutrition!

overall walking is good... instead of talking the lift .. just use the stair.. here are the walking method.. just check out..
