What is the best Internet virus/ spy ware/ malware protection?
I just bought a brand new Dell laptop computer, not super expensive but has all 2012 stuff and is really sweet. It came stock with McAfiee protection, but the cheapest one. So this is going to be my business only comp.. I have an older laptop that I'll take to the beach or let the kids hammer on. My desk top is another story, I think it has AIDS. So I have everybody telling me this, that and the other thing about protection. I've always been happy with Norton, but I'm getting "Oh you don't want that S*+T !" Then somebody else tells me Live Tiger. So I'm going out to you all, What is the best Internet virus/ spy ware/ malware protection ? Thank You Greg.

There is not single anti-virus that covers all the viruses. Furthermore there are tens of thousand of first day attacks that have to handled. Zero day attacks are malware (viruses, trojans you name it) attacks by a virus on its first day. Normally an anti-virus is sufficient to deal with most of them, but then again conficker virus and sasser worm triumphed on the first day.
So much that conficker is still a benchmard for computer viruses. However there is a total solution, involving two other software, Faronics Anti-Executable and Faronics Deep Freeze.
Apart from your anti-virus, these two can eliminate all threats and leftovers. Your anti-virus protects your computer via firewall that filters what is coming in and going out, and cleans viruses.
Here is what Faronics Anti-Executable does is that it does not allow any software to execute, just like the name suggests, it is an excellent tool to fight Zero day attacks and malware that are not in the definition. What it does is simple, it just doesn't allow anything to execute unless you authorize it.
DeepFreeze makes your computer invincible. It cannot be infected or touched by any virus or misconfiguration.
Combine an anti-virus,Faronics Anti-executable and Faronics DeepFreeze and you will have a computer that can never be infected by any typeof virus, malware,Trojan you name it. Not bad for something used by the military all over the world.

After many years of using free A/V and anti malware I installed a Norton trial Internet security 2012 on my daughters and granddaughters computers.I always felt Norton was a huge resource hog but the latest version was vastly improved. So much so that after three months I have installed it on my computer which seems considerably more responsive. My choice now until something better comes along.

Geeze' Why all of us could choose a AV observed as A.s.sshampoo is previous me. it can not be, yet that express feels like a pretend AV. you do no longer want all that crap cluttering and slowing down your device. The greater courses you get carry of the slower your device will substitute into. All you like is the spectacular "one" software to initiate with. I found out the demanding way. If this is unfastened this is unfastened for a reason. It has risk-free practices holes in it or it would not be unfastened. suited now the superb AV you will get is Kaspersky all in a single. You get carry of that. you will no longer want all that different junk. It runs mild and does as marketed. You get the AV, AS, & firewall all in a single..the quantity of working courses will drop and the quantity of unfastened reminiscence you have will bypass up. you like a minimum of one gig of reminiscence to run Kaspersky. you would be surprised at how lots greater suited your laptop will run and how lots safer it is going to likely be.

get the free version of AVG 2012 and Malwarebytes anti malware.
they work well together, gotta watch about for that becayse some things like Norton will try to delete AVG and Macafee or whatever is practicaly a virus in itself.

Those are all good anti virus, but you should also use Malwarebytes: http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_...
And SuperAntiSpyware: http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_...
Both are free or they have paid version. Free versions you have to update them and run the scans manually. Do this once a week

Norton is the best but it does slow your computer down but usually nothing will get past it. And if you have Comcast it is free
