there are the occasional hackers but you should be fine. some hacked games are even fun to play in. it really just depends on the lobby you get in because infinity ward will not spend the money to get the servers fixed so it will never really end just become a little better

Basically, yes, the status of CoD 4 is the same as it has been for at least the last year. As for cheating, many of those guys moved on so it's stiff competition online but the blatant cheaters are rarely around.
