I love me some punk and emotive hardcore(but my music is more emopop and punkpop, sadly) I do have a thing for Led Zepplin, Metallica, AC/DC, Guns n' Roses, and Rush. I grew up with that stuff, its my dads favorite, but I am more into Blink 182, Green Day, Sum 41, MCR, Panic, at The disco and such.:)

I saw the death announcement of Layne Staley on CNN which sparked my AIC obsession when I was 9 I think. Then my music tastes started spiraling all over the place because of the Internet.

It was when I started to go against mainstream and also when I first started with my boyfriend, he listened to rock, metal... etc. And then from that, I started listening to that. I listen to emotive hardcore the most and other bands around there. I first got in to this music genre when I found a band called Sunny Day Real Estate. I knew they were a emo influence band and I suddenly became interested. Soon after I was finding all these other bands such as Indian Summer, Embrace, Gray Matter, Jawbreaker, Fugazi, Rites Of Spring.. etc. I've recently found a screamo band too... Pg.99, I've been listening to Orchid quite sometime now.I have not always been listening to this though. I'll listen to anything as long as it sounds good.

I even listen to the heaviest types of death metal too, but I don't even know how I got in to that.

Well, my family is nothing but a bunch of metal heads. You would't think it at first but, we are.

We have music going constantly. I grew up on it. I grew up listing to Led Zepplin, Alice In Chains, Soundgraden, Jethro Tull and Black Sabbath to, Disturbed, Hatebreed, Tool, Lamb of God, Red, Trivium etc. I mean, our music taste varies, and sometimes I can't stand what my parents listen to, or they hate the band I'd be listening to.How did I learn about the genre? By asking questions, reading magazines and asking questions. Honestly, musical wise, my biggest influence was Jimi Hendrix haha. I started listening to him and Bob Marley when I was like seven.

My music taste however varies quite a bit. The only genre I wont listen to is Gospel and Country. Pop sometimes, rap almost everyday, Jazz when I need to.

For the long run it just straight up grunge, rock, classic rock, heavy metal, hardcore, Americanized reggae and post punk(:

    Parents were def an influence.

I was destined to get into punk from the beginning. My first encounter, ever, with punk rock was when I was about five. I was at a mall, and I told my ma that I wanted to have "green hair like the mohawk guy", who was strolling past me, decked out in all the punk fineries that I would later seek out, myself. I started hanging out on the punk scene when I was 12. My friend took me to a local show, and I started getting involved. I would go to hundreds of shows from that point, on. Friends traded me mixtapes and cds. I was very into punk, ny hardcore, screamo/powerviolence, and oi for years. Now, I'm older and I've gone soft. I listen more to roots reggae, hip hop, rocksteady, and indie.

The first "alt" record I ever heard was Sick of It All's "Built to Last" album. I was, again, about 12, and scamming those "10 free CDs when you buy one" inserts you often got in magazines. After that, it was a hard won battle, getting my fill of punk rock. Kazaa was just kicking off, and I still had dial up and AOL. haha. These days, kids have access to anything and everything.

I can really listen to almost anything. If I want to find new music I ask her first, then go on Last.fm and do a similar artists search.
