crop, resize for my web site?

Help! I need Photoshop help. I am having issues on my web site. I need all pictures to be the same size so they fit evenly on the page. here is an example of my issues.

http://www.missiondelrey.com/tapo.html

the top row of pottery are not the same size. it creates a trashy look. pic one(top left) is wide and short, pot two is taller, and pot 3 is much "larger" than pot 1. what are my options on editing. I need a natural look. I have always just eyeballed the crop and it to x480. someone please help me know what I need to do..

I live in the Southwest, Tucson, and I see Web pages like this all the time. I see nothing wrong with it or the size of the thumbnails of the pots offered.

I agree with The Writer - despite the size differences, your pages look very clean and tidy.

Although I don't think you need to change it, it is your choice, so here is what do in Photoshop.

You need to start with the original that still has some background around the pottery because if you have a very tight crop like it is now, but you want each image to be the same size, you will then distort your work. I.e. a round, stout pottery will suddenly become long and skinny (and vice versa).

If the image needs to be the same size, you need to have more background on either the sides or top/bottom (depending on the shape of the subject).

    Open the original.

Click on the crop tool in the vertical toolbar. Now the horizontal toolbar has changed to give you the cropping tools.

Simply enter your width and height (e.g. 480 x 640 pixels) and now your crop will be constrained to those proportions.

    Super easy :-)

I'm about the pickiest person ever when it comes to photos on web sites and I'll say right now I don't think it looks trashy at all. I've seen a whole hell of a lot worse. The images look close enough in size that it spreads across well and allows the viewer to clearly see what the item is.

Your site overall looks clean and well presented so really, I don't think you should be worrying about this one bit.
