India are actually ranked third equal with Australia.
Due to the nature of the formula for calculating rankings, most of the points they garnered to earn this rating were earned a couple of years back.
The truth is that India keeps fielding a team packed with former greats, none of whom are immune to the ageing process, and many of whom are a long way past their best.
India need to re-build.
