What would happen if you put an expired credit or debit card it the card slot in a gas pump?
Would it reject it or could you still pump gas? Not planing on doing it, I'm just curious.

When you pay at the pump in the US, they put a hold on your card before you pump.
This hold is usually $50 or $75.
If they can't put the hold, the pump will not allow you to pump gas.

You would not be able to pump gas with an expired credit card or debit card. After you swiped the card it would come up with error and you would not get any gas unless you paid cash or used a good credit card or debit card. The card reader knows when the card is expired and funds are unavailable. You cannot get gas with a rejected credit or debit card.
