For ballet people say from the ages 2-3 but personally I would say from the ages 4-5. At the age of 3 I highly doubt the child will be mentally mature enough to understand what they are doing never mind process the information and remember dance steps. But it depends on the child, some may be physically mature enough to do a version of ballet modified for toddlers.

For gymnastics Children can start in as young as 18 months in a " Mommy and Me'' class, which probably also applies for ballet. But again I would say from the ages 4-5+. But from the ages of 3/4 your child can be enrolled in a beginner gymnastics class.

But it will usually depend on whether the teacher thinks your child is stable enough to begin classes and they will probably interview yourself and possibly the child.

    Hope this helps.

As soon as they can walk. You see those pro dancers on television? They've been dancing since they were three. It's never too young!
