My computer has 2 graphic/video cards. How I make one my 'main'?
I'm using a HP Pavillion dv6 notebook PC. It has 2 graphics cards, onboard graphics and an ATI Radeon. Currently I am using the onboard graphics, how do I switch?

The reason I want to switch graphics is because some applications won't run at all and tell me to 'get a new video card' when the one I have is in fact totally compatible.

You don't. In most cases, the computer determines which to use at a given moment, depending on requirements.
