How do you determine real friend/s from your Filipinos couple of friends?

Yes, they are known to be two-faced.

I have found it VERY easy to determine who my REAL Filipino friends are. Every time I arrive I notice the number of people who are quick to visit me and greet me the day I arrive. . Some with genuine offers of assistance like--while you are here if you need anything please let me know or can I show you around or can you come to my house for dinner. Others sit eagerly in the house practically drooling at my bags wondering openly and once I was even asked straight out by a person --what gifts have you got for me?. So, the Filipinos who come to see ME, and not what I have in my bags are my friends.

Sadly, there are not many.

Everyone is different. Who knows why some pretend. Ask them if you know who it is that is fake or plastic. I do not question my friends behavior. I am just happy that they are my friends. Some are very close friends from childhood others are co workers and some are social friends I have met throught the years. I value their friendship whether sincere or not.

To be a friend and to have friends you must show yourself first to be friendly and not have suspicion of others who are friendly.

There are many very genuine people here in the Philippines. I am a foreigner who lives here and have many friends. However, My foreign pension was cut and many friends then disappeared. One needs to be aware of some of the 'superficial' friendships here. Friendships of financial convenience.

I have some friends and I am happy to have them because they don't tend to leave me, no matter how bulky my problem is, because in our life, real friends didn't count on material thing only, supports is very important especially on some issues concerning our conflicting stories.

But frankly speaking, my best friend in life is my wife and child, because they are always there, no matter what chaos we may face in life.

my fingers are more than my friends, but I am so lucky to have them because I've known them for more than half of my life already and our relationships with each other have been tried and tested. I may not have many friends, but mine are the best ones. If someone in the group is in distress, the others are there... to help or to give moral support if not capable of helping financially

Plastic? Fake? Your choice of words may tell us more about you than you would like to. Finding true friends, like trying to win the love of a girl, takes time. If you feel the people you go out with have "plastic" behaviour, you may have to make a quick getaway.

I have very few friends ( my choice) but many acquaintances. Did you see the movie " Meet the Parents" with Robert Di Niro? He had a "circle of trust" and you could either be in it or out of it. Same thing with me and my "circle of friends" in or out, my choice.

When I was adolescent I always dreamed to find friends who will be there to support me, shoulder me when I need help.They will be there to share me when I laugh or cry. Friends like brothers and sisters who don't carry hypocrisy but the truth. In my clan we were 5 as friends. Among those friends that I considered of,only one remained who was real and true.The rest got married and contact got halted.
