move two terms to left
(1/r_t) - (1/r_2) - (1/r_3)=(1/r_1)
divide 1 by each side
1/((1/r_t) - (1/r_2) - (1/r_3))=r_1
incidentally, this is the formula to find the equivalent value of several resistors in parallel were r_t is the equivalent value. r_1, 2 and 3 are individual resistances.
