Are induced dipoles permanent?

Need some help with science homework ;-) thanks everyone!

    Not usually. The term 'induced dipole' is used to distinguish between a dipole which appears in response to an applied electric field and one which is a permanent feature of a molecule or other structure. When the applied electric field is removed, the induced dipole disappears.
