I'm not even hesitating to say yes.
Here's what it does: EVERYTHING you won't get with a boring plain old iPod Touch. It won't screw up your iPod and even if an idiot manages to do that to his own iPod, there's always restoring it, which is a super easy option. Just careful not to 'brick' it. Even if you think this has happened, try restoring it.
Btw, there's the "Tethered" and "Untethered" Jailbreak. You'll want the Untethered, which means you won't have to keep re-jailbreaking it every time you shut your iPod down. All you need to do is go to YouTube and search: "How to jailbreak iPod Touch 4G 5.0/5.0.1 Untethered".
Make sure to look at the video ratings (likes/dislikes) to get an idea if people were satisfied with the video. Safest bet.

Jail breaking is not for everyone.
First off know that jail breaking will void your warranty (if you bring it into an apple store without having restored it, they won't fix it), and can get technical at times (not always, but sometimes)
If you do choose to jailbreak, you will be able to tweak settings on your device that would otherwise never be there (like HapticPRO which allows the iPhone to vibrate when keys are pressed, or SBSettings that allow you to change common settings on the fly), you will also be able to download or purchase tweaks and apps from Cydia (the "other" App Store).
To get started, upgrade your iOS version to 5.0.1 and Use RedSn0w

Basically you get a crap load of crap for free.
I don't jailbreak.
Think of it this way:
If you jailbreak then the company's wont earn their money. Therefore no more games/ electronics for you to buy and jailbreak in the first place :/
Source(s): I dunno if it makes sense. I'm sick of repeating this to heaps of people. Not saying it in a rude way but it's the truth.
