Just like in any country, Israeli money can be exchanged for goods and services

It's not that hard to understand. They use a decimal system like with the dollar and the euro.

The equivalent to the dollar is called a Shekel

A shekel consists of 100 agorot (agora, singular), which a the equivalent of cents.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Israeli_new_shekel

Like with most currencies, Israeli money comes in both coins and notes, depending on the denomination.

    The 1, 5 and 10 shekel's are coins. 20, 50, 100 and 200 shekels are notes.

Agorot come in denominations of 10 and 50 agorot.

    Edit

Thumbs down, when I explained the answer perfectly.

Some moron is going through the entire Israel section giving everyone a thumbs down.

    What gives?

If you can not find one, why don't you START one? And consider this - why don't you start one where the money that is donated will go INSTEAD to the PEACEFUL end to fighting between Israel and Palestine? The role that God intends them to do is to LOVE ONE ANOTHER. This takes education, integration, and loss of hatred. On BOTH sides.

money isn't real. it's a fiction, but as long as people believe in it (and in the gov which backs it up), they'll give things for those strange printed papers... or not even that, just xchange bits in another abstract thingy called your bank account runned by z/OS mainframe OS :D

israeli money works the same way...
