In Arizona, what happens if I fail science in eighth grade, but get excellent scores on tests?

I think its awfully strange that all this stuff which is being assigned to me, which has no apparent purpose, is counting towards my grade, which, in theory, is meant to resemble my comprehension of a subject... If I show that I understand the required curriculum for science thoroughly, why waste time doing random things that have no readily available purpose?

The reason for doing random things that have no readily available purpose is that doing them makes it possible for you to pass the class. You may end up in high school next fall. You will not, however, get a high school diploma if your attitude doesn't change. Both school and the real world require us all to sometimes do what we believe to be silly.
