Black screen with white letters on startup? Never seen none other than Microsoft loading screen.

However, to disable any service or startup program to auto-start you need to do this:

Once in desktop use the Run Diag Box shortcut = Windows Key+R (Windows key usually between CTRL and ALT)

If no windows key just simply click the Start button on the bottom left and pick RUN if XP

If Vista or Windows 7 then in the search bar you type this

    msconfig

    then press enter.

The Tabs you will be interested in are the SERVICES tab and STARTUP tab.

In the Services tab ALWAYS click "Hide all Microsoft Services" unless you are a pro like me ^^

Once you click that all the optional software will be weeded out by name and you can uncheck all the services you do not want windows to load on startup.

There is no "hide all Microsoft Services" in the Startup Tab. So you must use discretion by looking at the names and description and location. Hotkeys represent with HK (example HKLM) and those are the scripts for startup. usually the company names will be present. If not, it will be their .exe name. So use discretion. Can also type the execute file name in Google to find what it is.

Click Apply and exit. The machine will need tor restart so agree with the restart.

If it still shows up then go into safe mode with networking and perform an online virus scan with a reputable company like Trend Micro or Kvaskey or whatever. The chances are your system's Firewall and Anti Malware is compromised is 100% so do an online virus scan.

After that go to Google or Yahoo! search engine and look for "Microsoft Malicious Software Removal Tool" and download it from only microsoft. It will also scan for the latest malware and remove it or quarantine it. All this is free except with other companies that might charge you with removal service. I haven't had a virus for awhile so I dunno if the removal service for TrendMicro's HouseCall and Ksky are still free.

Source(s): One more thing. I told you how to do it for benefit yourself. You cannot do unistall things unless physically at teh computer with Administrator's permission. Doing such on private property not your own will result in serious civil and criminal penalties.

Scripts do not start the computer. The boot screens from the bios are executable programs, so are the boot and startup programs. And if this is to stop someone else's machine from starting you just earned yourself up to 20 years prison as that would be illegally preventing the intended use of the machine. And if so asking on a site monitored by every police and government agency is not very clever.

The biggest one in the last two years on April 1 has been the circulation of the Information about a "Dooms Day Virus". Sort of like the Y2k thing every body running around frantically trying to get a quick fix. Sure made those crisis and adrenaline junkies happy. What is the Spiritually in an April fools joke?
