My Internet Connection?

My internet connection has been working for at least six years with my SpeedStream Modem 5100 and D-Link Wireless Router DI-524, but it was not until my older sibling reset the modem. Then, after I got support from AT&T, my connection worked again, but unlike before, it stops working in a few hours. This forces me to reset the wireless router in order to fix it; the only solution I have found is to plug my computer directly into the modem. However, I want the connection to be available throughout my house with the access point.

You say everything appears to be working from the Modem outward, as your computer works when plugged into the modem.

If your router has ethernet ports, can you access the internet by plugging into the router? If so, it sounds like the wireless on your router is going out. (Assuming that your older sibling only power reset the modem and probably the router).

If plugging into the router also gives you no connection than it's time to replace the router.

As a last ditch effort to saving yourself from buying a new router you could check the manufacturer website, download the last firmware they made for your router and install that.

But I think you will find it's time to replace the router.
