Magesteff is right in her concern.... if the gum had Xylitol in it..... that could kill the dog
A poster the other day mentioned a dane that snagged a piece of gum while on a walk.... the next day the dog was dead..... due to XYLITOL POISONING
so be watchful....

If it is sugarless gum then depending on how much of the sweetener (xylitol) is remaining in the gum will affect how ill your dog may become.
There has been some evidence that Xyliotl (the sweetener for sugarless gum) can be toxic to dogs. But a small amount should not cause a major problem, but watch for listlessness and lethargy in your dog and if that happens take him to the vet right away and explain about the gum.

What kind of gum? This could be extremely serious and you should be at the vet if the gum contained xylitol. You need to read the contents of the gum. What type of sugar was used? Is this a sugar free gum product? One stick can be serous.

Your dog will be fine. Just watch his bowels for the next few days...he will poop it out. If he has problems pooping or does not poop then you might have a problem.
