Can I purchase a PO Box in another city without actually being there?
I live in Las Vegas but I will be staying in San Francisco for a while and would like to have my snail mail sent there to a PO BOX. Can a purchase a PO Box somewhere online before I get there, so I can inform others before I leave where they can send me mail?

Your best option is go to your local post office and ask them. I don't think it can be done, but I've been wrong before.

In order to get a P.O. Box you must apply at the local San Francisco post office in person and they have to verify your current street addresss where you are staying in S.F. They mail you a card. Then you can get the box. You can forward your Las Vegas mail to General Delivery in San Francisco and it will be held up 30 days. That will give you enough time to get a P.O. box.
