As David said, Tim Horton was a hockey player. The Coffee Shops also support a foundation which maintains camp programs for economically disadvantaged children and supports other children's activities. The coffee, donuts, soup & sandwiches are reasonable good but less expensive than some of the fancier places. They are casual - a good place to warm up on a day spent outside with the kids. I know at least one with snow mobile parking in the winter. The one near me is like a hang out for seniors, they meet there some mornings just for coffee & social contact. Along the Trans-Canada highway some stay open all night and the buses stop for coffee & toilet breaks, as do all the weary travelers.

For more information on Tim Horton, the Foundation or to see a menu check their web site.

Tim Horton was a hockey player who opened a donut store in 1964 and won the Stanley Cup for the Toronto Maple Leafs in our centennial year 1967. He died in a car accident shortly after. The leafs haven't won the Stanley Cup since. Tim Hortons is famous for their double double coffee. That's a coffee with two creams and two sugars. They make a fresh pot every 20 minutes.
