    Clinton handed Bush surpluses so large there were predictions by economists that the national debt would be ZERO in 2009. Bush cut taxes on the rich and started 2 wars on the national credit card, then handed Obama record deficits. When Obama leaves office in 2016, we'll have surpluses again and hopefully we won't have to hand them off to a moron who will run the country into the ground again.

    No. To be fair, Obama didn't anticipate Republicans being so partisan that they would actually sabotage efforts to rebuild our economy just to make him look bad. Obama probably could have made good on that promise if Republicans didn't spend the last year opposing him at every turn.

    Republicans want to claim Obama owns the economy while refusing to let him take ownership of the economy.

    There was no surplus. What you're referring to was a CBO PROJECTION based on truly idiotic assumptions.
