Piercing not Healing?

I got my earlobes pierced on November 9th of last year at a professional tattoo parlor with a needle. The earring is a small 18 gage hoop made of surgical steel. I've been cleaning it daily with saline and once every two days with antibacterial soap- Like they told me to at the parlor. Its still not healed...there is still white blood cell discharge coming out and its sore when i push at the earring. I can see that its not healed cause of the pinpricks of red surrounding the piercing at the back and front of the lobe. Its definitely not infected though cause this is the 2nd time pierced on the same spot. I know what an infection looks like. The 1st time was 8 years ago and they definitely got infected that time so I took them out and they grew back. This is the repiercing.

Am i just a slow healer? I've noticed that my earlobes are kinda of thin and they don't get that much blood supply. maybe this is why? i dunno....

You're probably allergic to nickel. Surgical steel contains nickel, and if you're allergic to it the allergic reaction can cause infection and for the piercing to not heal. This is probably the same reason your ears got infected before. You say it's not infected, but if it still has lymph oozing from it and it's sore, then it probably is. I would suggest taking the earrings out, letting them heal, and then if you want to pierce them again you'll have to use gold instead. Don't try getting them repierced with surgical steel, silver, or pretty much any other silver metal. Gold is the only type of jewelry that doesn't contain nickel.

Source(s): I'm allergic to nickel as well and had the same problem when I got my third holes pierced. Now I'm back down to two.
