Two weeks ago I changed my settings to private and it made my picture disapear. I didn't worry about it much until I tried to change my picture last week sometime. And now it still isn't showing up. Please help!

Your avatar doesn't show up because your profile is hidden (profile not activity) and you need to make it visible for your avatar to show up. To make it visible CLICK on MY ACTIVITY > View Pulse > Settings (gear icon on top right) > Privacy > Make profile visible.
You can have your activity private and it doesn't affect the avatar. What you need to have visible is your profile.

In your case since your profile is private you must first change your profile to public or your avatar won't show. To do that:Click your avatar, click view pulse click settings top line. Under privacy click manage privacy settings uncheck hide my profile Click save. Then.
You could choose either a cartoon or a photo avatar
Cartoon, this way is fast, straight forward and easy. Go below, create your avatar and save. Then, click your current default avatar then click edit my preferences and you will see where to check use avatar.
Photo
Click on your current avatar then click edit my preferences to the right of your default avatar click update photo. Follow the prompts to upload it from your pc.

when you changed your profile as private your image/picture will disapear immediatly. That's because to have a photo or a picture your profile must be uncovered. To make your profile uncovered go here, on Privacy Settings http://profile.yahoo.com/y/settings/privacy/
