Why would someone who can't ski spend $1200 for a heli-ski package?
I had a crummy day trying to get some virgin skiers up and down some pretty easy terrain today and was left wondering why on earth these dummies would drop 12 large/person for a 6 pack day of heliskiing when everything they could handle was at the resort. Heck a 4 run pkg would have saved them $200 but they insisted that they were experts and wanted the full vertical. Just to make the day really pathetic these corporate jag-offs complained that they were getting stiffed because I was taking them on small hills....duh!!! 1st run took two hours(normally only 45min).
Tks your answers gave me a laugh. I shouldn't b!t*h after all baby sitting wealthy vacationers is my job and there are worst ways to make a buck but usually corporate bonding types tip well especially the ones who don't ski very good. Needless to say these dudes didn't tip at all.
Both answers were great and I can't decide which to pick so I'll just give them both a thumbs up and let the voters decide. Thanks again

I occasionally run into the same a$$#oles at my job. I get people who tell me they hike 14ers and then DIE on the way up a tiny little 1200ft mountain and people who tell me they go ocean kayaking all the time but freak out in a small Class II rapid. Similarly, these are people of means who can afford the small group/private outdoor trips I run. I make my living off the trophy wives of douchebag hedge fund managers...who am I to complain? They have to go back to suburbia and choke to death on the exhaust fumes of their Lexus SUVs while I get paid to essentially be on vacation every day. I'm not getting rich, but I'm getting more than by.
If they gotta drop that kinda cash just to say "they did it", that's their problem. They are shallow and will have to live with it. They'll brag to their friends or rub it in on someone, but it's all bulls#!t, and they know it. These people are never satisfied with what they have and never will be so they think they can buy their way to happiness, or at least buy themselves more happiness than the person who lives in the McMansion next door to them on some cul-de-sac.

Dude, you are lucky to have a job that keeps you skiing. I hope you can keep a smile on your face because they are paying your salary.
If you get complaints like this, play the safety card. Whatever you do is for their safety. That's your ultimate responsibility.
"Why were we on small hills?" I have to make sure that everyone can make it down safely before we ski more difficult terrain.
The client you should keep an eye on is the one who is not getting a good experience because the rest of the group is holding him back. That's the problem I had with cat skiing. We did easy slopes and stopped too often because the poorer skiers held up the group.

The reason they spent 12 large is EGO. Sorry they ruined your time on the hill but it is what they are paying you for.
