Acne on head?
I have a widows peak but my whole family has thick thick hair. Both sides are what my parents liked to call “the ape-ish side” of our family. I have never had an acne problem in any part of my body until I was in college (my face did but I use clippers now and have no problems). I thought it had something to do with my adderall prescription but I haven’t been on it for over a year and I still get acne mostly in the sides of my head and my spiral in the back/top section. Tea tree shampoo helps but it doesn’t get rid of my problem. I would prefer to not see a dermatologist because of insurance reasons but idk what else to do about this. I don’t know anyone who has this problem. It becomes ten times worse every time I get a haircut which sucks because I work in a bank and I have to keep my hair reasonable. What can I do? Does anyone else have this problem?
Hair2 weeks agoI’m 24 and my mother just passed away. How do young sons cope?
I lost my mom last week to liver failure. She battled alcoholism since her teens and it resurfaced ten years ago. Despite her demons I was always a huge mommas boy and she was the best mother who gave me the best childhood. Since my father was a fisherman and gone a lot she was everything to me. She was diagnosed with liver failure 3 years ago but wouldn’t stop drinking. The process was painful for her and horrible for my sister and I to watch. She was in the hospital last weekend and when I left her bedside for an hour to take our dogs out my father called saying she passed on. While I’m happy I was there while she was conscious enough to hear me say I love her and her to gasp it back, I Hate that I wasn’t there when it happened. In some ways it may have been best because I completely lost it when I got the call. But I have all these different emotions of guilt and anger Etc. I’ve tried to find a counselor but I have to wait at least two months just for an appointment. I did manage to book a phone session but I doubt it’s going to be much help. How can I learn to cope with this? I am way too young for this to happen and hate that my mom will not be there for me during so many important moments in my life. Anyone else out there who has some advice or tips? I just started going back to work which has been rough given that I am in banking/sales and I have to keep it together while talking to clients. How can I turn this experience into something positive? How can I get help?
2 AnswersPsychology1 year agoConnection of pyramids in China, Iraq, Egypt and Central America?
I was reading up on some ancient civilizations and the Mayans when I realized something. Between something like 3000BC and 600AD, pyramids were being built by completely different civilizations in completely different places around the world. In fact, they seem to span along the equator ranging from oldest to youngest structures starting in China and ending in Central America. Some of these civilizations were making pyramid structures at EXACTLY THE SAME TIME. I have to ask.
How would these people all come up with the same basic pyramid shape around the same time when there was absolutely no way for them to have colluded with each other? There was no way for these people to communicate this idea with each other this long ago and yet it happened. They even seemed to have served the same basic purpose. LASTLY, these people were using technology that was way ahead of their time and using similar methods to move massive rocks. What’s the connection here?!
11 AnswersHistory1 year agoWhy is nobody actually talking about Biden’s son? Does “impeachment inquiry” not sound more like a cover up/distraction from the govt?
I think trump is an idiot too don’t get me wrong. The fact that a president has enough time to tweet about everything including his latest bm is beyond me. BUT why are we just disregarding his accusations about Biden? How is dirt digging illegal or grounds for impeachment? Why can’t trump ask someone to confirm a rumor but Netflix can put out TWO smear campaign documentaries about a current president? Let’s me real, presidential campaigns are full of hidden skeletons.
Also, why hasn’t anyone even been questioning the legitimacy of what trump has said regarding Biden and his son? If you ask me it would be much worse to find out that there was a truth to Biden’s dealings than a president nearly trying to talk crap about a future opponent.
If this scandal were true, it would only confirm the disgusting corruption that goes on in DC. It seems convenient that Democrats FINALLY decide to launch impeachment proceedings. If you look at this story, we are basically talking about how a whistleblower whistle blew on a president who is trying to whistle blow on a Democrat who are trying to whistleblow back... anyone else just ******* fed up with the bs?
8 AnswersPolitics2 years agoDo large private companies hire or contract financial advisors? What would that job title be and how would I get there?
Do large private businesses hire or contract their own financial advisors? I can’t seem to find a lot of info on this but I have to believe that large and small companies would need professional help from someone like an advisor to help them with setting up and maintaining retirement plans or even business investments to help them diversify from their own activities. I know that I’ll likely need years of experience to do something like this but do these roles even exist? What are the titles and how do I get to them? Would FA experience help? What firms do this already?
I have recently graduated with my undergrad in finance and accepted a licensed banker position with a large national bank. I liked this role over independent FA jobs because I knew I’d get better training and a significantly higher base salary on top of commissions and paid licensing. Over the next five years my goal is that I’ll be an FA with the bank because I know that they will also pay for my CFP. HOWEVER... while I don’t mind the idea of being an FA for a while, I am not one of those people who is looking forward to the same job for 40 years.
I don’t intend to be an FA for more than 5-10 years and I want to know what other options there are out there for people with this experience.
I like the idea of going independent some day but I’d prefer to do something on a bigger scale than just individual advising.
1 AnswerFinancial Services2 years agoWhy do political debates get so blown out of proportion? Specifically republican stances?
Everything about the media seems to miss the entire point of political agendas and I have never understood why even politicians can’t seem to rationalize their stances so that they make sense.
Example: immigration: all anyone wants to talk about is either drug smuggling or child separation. But the reality is that if an American were to cross a border with their kid illegally we would condemn them for child endangerment and prosecute them accordingly. We would also laugh at them for saying that their prisons weren’t up to their standards.
Example: Birth control! I can’t stand either sides opinion of “my choice” vs “it’s a living being”. Of course it should be a woman’s choice! But it should also be your expense! Why is it everyone else’s problem when a woman gets pregnant?! It’s not even that expensive so why is it even a problem?? Why doesn’t anyone say this?
Example: Health care: Holy crap! Any person with half a brain knows that this country isn’t built to handle universal healthcare and that it would be a disaster to try. But NOBODY WANTS TO TALK ABOUT SUEING BIG PHARMA OR TAKING LEGAL ACTION AGAINST HEALTHCARE COMPANIES! That’s how you can lower healthcare costs and the government should be able to make laws and prosecute these evil practices.
Am I crazy for interpreting these debates like this? Why do we always take such an extreme stance on every issue? Can’t we have a president that is just somewhere in the middle? Wouldn’t most people want that?
4 AnswersPolitics2 years agoMom w/stage 4 cirrhosis of liver agreed to rehab finally. Many questions help!?
My mom has been diagnosed with stage 4 cirrhosis of the liver for nearly 3 years now. Alcohol has been a serious problem since I was 13 (Im 24 now). She has constantly refused to go to treatment despite multiple hospital visits and doctors telling her she has a year left if she keeps it up.
I just finished my degree and have been at home for a few months and she just came in my room asking if I would go with her to check out a rehab.
I thought id be happy but im actually just really nervouse because i dont want to get my hopes up about her going and her condition. Many Q's so here it goes!
I dont know if she has told my sister and dad yet but should I tell them or just keep quiet until after we leave?
How do I make sure that this thing goes through? I know addicts will change their mind constantly so I want to know how I can make sure that nothing changes before we leave in the morning?
Medical Q! is a transplant even possible for someone with stage 4 liver cirrhosis? She told me once that she would die from surgery but recently I heard her doc say that she could stop and get on the waiting list. She had sepsis, or so I thought, but is it still possible if she stays sober?
BIG Q: I AM AN O- blood TYPE (UNIVERSAL DONOR). I have heard that people can donate part of their own liver to a family member if their blood type works. My mom is not an O- type but would I still be able to do this?
FInally: I am a wreck all over again. How do I keep myself together? any advice for me?
1 AnswerOther - Diseases2 years agoBecoming an insurance adjuster CAT? Having a degree help you later on?
I have just finished my finance degree and have been applying to several investment firms. While I first thought that I’d just have a hard time finding work, I have found myself rejecting offers because they aren’t as interesting as I initially thought and most of them are really sales jobs.. I thought I’d be able to help people prep for retirement when In reality you really just help rich people get richer. Also the pay for even the competitive jobs is peanuts given the workload.
Recently a family friend of mine told me about his job as an independent insurance adjuster, and it actually sounded like a lot of fun. I don’t mind hard work if I get paid well for it and I’ve seen that even the entry level jobs actually pay more than most banking jobs. And long term the pay is INSANE!
I know I have to take classes and the big money comes from being an independent. But where do you start? Do I have to be employed for the licenses? Do I need them first? What are some good programs? How does one become an independent adjuster in terms of getting enough experience for it? Will my degree be of any use in the long term? What’s the next step in the ladder as an independent adjuster? GIVE ME THE SCOOP! By the way I know that I have the work ethic and mindset for this career. Just want to know where to start!
6 AnswersInsurance2 years agoFinance grad turned down from jobs because of bogus felony charge that was dismissed?
I just graduated and I have been interviewing with numerous investment firms and banks and I always get to the last interview where they ask to perform a background check. They always ask if I’ve ever been “charged” Or convicted of a felony and I have to say yes. I was charged with felony assault when I was 19 after getting into a fight with a 28 year old guy who was my roommate for two days and was being a creep. The charge was a bogus attempt to blame me for his broken teeth which were already broken. The charges were dropped after dental records proved that I didn’t do this and I got a misdemeanor instead. Why do people care about charges that were dropped?! Why does this matter and why do people ask this? What do I do? I have a great resume and past banking experience but nobody cares about that anymore when they see my charge.
6 AnswersLaw & Ethics2 years agoBanking/finance jobs in New Zealand for U.S citizens?
I am looking to move to New Zealand. I love the country and the landscape and the people and I am from the Seattle area. I have a degree in finance and I have banking/stock trading experience and I want to know where I should look to find a job in this great country. Don’t try to tell me that the country is crap because I’ve already made my opinion. I just want to figure out where I should go to to find a job out there that connects with my skills. Cheers!
3 AnswersOther - Business & Finance2 years agoWhy doesn’t my Aussie act protective around me but he does with my girlfriend?
My Aussie is just over a year old and he acts so different between me and my girlfriend. If he’s scared of something or someone new comes in he will either get behind my legs or run to my girlfriend and sit in front of her. Either way he always barks but when he decides to get in front of my girlfriend he also starts growling.
He also won’t sleep near me and he always rests his head on my girlfriend at night
Don’t get me wrong, I love the fact that he wants to protect my girlfriend and I’m always a little proud when he does.
But why doesn’t he try and protect me?! He listens to me more, he respects me more and he is always attached to my hip during the day. I don’t understand why he does this because every dog that I had growing up was always super protective over me.
2 AnswersDogs2 years agoDog won’t stop trying to herd people?
I have an Aussie who is one year and 3 months. He’s always been shy of people (specifically guys for some reason) but ever since he got fixed he’s been a total a$$ every time he sees someone. I used to be able to let him off leash and he wouldn’t bother anyone except for other animals; I have had Aussies in the past and I’m used to this reaction.
But now, every time he sees another person he bolts after them and when they try to pet him he barks and starts jumping from side to side to try and herd them like sheep. It’s apparently even worse when he’s with my girlfriend because she can’t get him to come back. He usually comes right back to me after I yell at him to stop (knowing full well that I’m going to scold him) but when he’s with my girlfriend he literally won’t stop until she grabs him by the fur and hooks a leash back on.
I can’t put up with this behavior anymore and I want to figure out some training commands to get him to stop doing this when he’s off-leash.
This wouldn’t bother me normally because I grew up with herding breeds and I know when I dog is being mean and when they are herding but everyone else thinks that he’s about to attack. Which I completely understand. I also can’t tell if the behavior is worse with my girlfriend because he’s being protective or if it’s because he just doesn’t listen to her.

9 AnswersDogs2 years agoFinance grad 2.7 gpa career options? (Not life insurance) Options?! Advice?!?
I’m graduating this semester with a 2.7 gpa and I can’t seem to get past the initial screenings on job apps despite my experience and reasoning for low gpa.
I have been a bank teller for two years and have excelled in my role for sales which has led to raises I never asked for and requests to assist with out of office sales calls (I work for a major bank). Furthermore I have held a fellowship role with a start-up Investment program and I have recently become a sector analyst for my universities large cap investment fund that counts as credit (only person working two sectors and 1st to have pitch moved to buy decision).
My gpa is crap because of attendance which is due to the fact that I have been working for 2 years and I have had to go home constantly to help out with my dying mother for the past 3 years.
I want to be a financial advisor but I keep turning down the position offers I have gotten from career fairs because I later find out that they want me to push life insurance for 20k/ year. I make more now and hate those jobs. I have been applying for associate advisor roles within my company but they are taking forever to respond and I need to find other options.
How do I keep companies interested despite my gpa?! I don’t want to make the sob story of my mother to get a job but is this really what I have to do?!
Any advice on how to explain my case to an interviewer about gpa would be great. They usually ask but they never ask why I have a low gpa.
4 AnswersOther - Careers & Employment2 years agoJob options for recent finance grade w/2.7gpa?
I am graduating this semester and will likely have around a 2.7 gpa. I did just fine on exams and projects but my grades mostly reflected my lack of attendance. Over the past few years I’ve had to deal with my mom dying of a terminal illness (going home constantly to help out), and then some financial problems that lead me to need a job. Because of this gpa I often get immediately shut down on applications.
However, I have a job at a bank, I am a research fellow for a clean tech investment organization, and I have just started as a sector analyst for my universities large-cap investment fund (it counts as a class). My performance in these areas has been outstanding but my gpa is still a problem.
Obviously this gpa will not get me into an analyst position or even an entry level accounting or reporting job.
On top of that, the interviews that I have gotten (advisor) have led me to turn them down because the salaries are poverty level. (I make more hourly now than these would).
I don’t want to be a teller forever but I don’t know what else I can do other than working my way up slowly within my bank.
Any advice on jobs I can get with a lower gpa? Anything outside of my major that would still hire with my background? All advice helps.
3 AnswersFinancial Services2 years agoJob ideas for outdoors: hate my field of study but love outdoors?
I am about to graduate with a degree in finance. I have done just fine in school and I have maintained extracurriculars with high standing. I also work at a bank and I have come to a realization over the past year. I HATE MY MAJOR AND I HATE BUSINESS. I can’t tell you how many times I have skipped class or called in sick just so I could spend the day in the woods learning my ways around or waking up at 4 am and fishing from 5-dusk. I am going to soon start learning how to hunt for deer and I hate hate hate the idea of ever being stuck in a BS corporate job working my butt off just so I can live in an expensive area and compete with my neighbors over Christmas lights and Halloween decorations... I would like some ideas for jobs that will keep me outdoors and in the woods. Only problem is that I’m not able to keep going to school to pursue an different degree and I’m honestly exhausted from school. I could care less how much money I make as long as I can wake up every day excited to go to work. Any ideas on job options? I’ve put some thought into becoming a game warden or fish and wildlife officer. Any other options?
8 AnswersOther - Careers & Employment2 years agoHow much does GPA matter for recent Finance grads with relevant work experience?
I am about to graduate with a degree in finance with the hopes of becoming a financial planner or investment analyst. I have a B- *** GPA (2.7) which is mainly due to the fact that I got zeros on attendance scores for a lot of my classes despite performing well on exams. However, over the last two years I have been working at a bank as a Teller, and I have recently been accepted into a fellowship at my university which has teamed up with a venture capital firm seeking students to assist in their due diligence process and be involved with stock pitches for clean-tech startup companies.
My question is: Considering the amount of relevant experience I have in my field of study, is it likely that companies will still judge me on my lower gpa? While I know I should have gone to class more often, I feel like my GPA is not really a good indicator of what I’ve actually learned nor my ability to excel in a professional environment.
Higher Education (University +)3 years agoCan I own a gun with a misdemeanor basic assault (not domestic violence)?
I am 23 living in Washington state and I was convicted of a misdemeanor assault or “basic assault” in the 4th degree when I was 19. Long story short I got into a fight with someone I barely new and they threw the book at me. I want to know if I can own a gun or if I’ll be barred until I have my record expunged in about two years. Is there a difference between being able to own a rifle or any gun and having a concealed carry permit? Any advice would be helpful as I don’t want to pay my lawyer to find out for me. All I ever hear about is DV related charges but I can’t find anything about my type of charge.
5 AnswersLaw & Ethics3 years agoCan’t get a student loan without a co-signer?
I need advise on how to get a loan for my last year in school without a co-signer. I am 22 and about to complete my last year of school majoring in finance. I have worked at a bank pt for almost a year and I can’t make the cut for any scholarships. I DO HAVE GOOD CREDIT! My parents paid off my last loan already, I have a credit card w/0 late payments, I have 0 late payments on my past two apartments, and I now own my car outright and I’m about to be paying my own insurance. I do have limited credit history though. I can’t qualify for fasfa or other student loans because I still seem to be a “dependent” even though I haven’t really lived with them for over a year now. I need to finish my degree but my family won’t pay my tuition anymore. I have some savings but not enough to pay my way! Are there any loans(or similar) that I can use to pay my tuition and might have a better chance of being approved for?
2 AnswersFinancial Aid3 years agoNew tricks for my 9 week old aussie?
I recently got an Aussie puppy and during his first few weeks, we have taught him to sit, shake, lay down, and roll over. He is mostly potty trained and we are working on bettering his leash training. As a herding dog, he is not very adept at fetching things so I am running out of ideas for new tricks to keep him busy and avoid the destructive nature of these puppies. A list of good tricks to try for this smart pup will be greatly appreciated. Also. if you have any breed specific tricks for Aussies I will likely award you the best answer!
