Any advice on replacing a top mattress?

One of the beds has a terrible top mattress, really cheap. I'm hoping I can get a decent top mattress only. Any suggestions?

    Nani,

We bought the mattress in a box (memory foam) from Sam's Club. Our mattress was quite a good one, but my husband has arthritis in his hip and could not sleep on it. He likes the memory foam mattress, and though he still has pain, he is able to sleep on this one. If you want to spend more money, I've heard the sleep number beds are amazing, but they ARE also amazingly expensive. I don't know, but I believe they'd sell you whatever you want to buy.

Funny story . . . we live way out in the country, so disposing of the old mattress was kind of a big deal. I didn't want to throw it away or put it in a shed where it might be damaged because it seemed such a shame to waste what someone else might enjoy having. So we just unfolded the new mattress right on top of the old one and had a three layered bed. Quite a climb! I felt like the princess in the story of the mattresses with the dried pea under the bottom one.

A month or so later, I was about to give up on giving away a king-sized mattress and a friend offered to post it for me on a web community where people give things away to one another. I had several inquiries and I loaded the mattress on top of the tono cover of my truck (couldn't get it IN the bed) and delivered it to a very happy lady. When my husband got home and saw the now diminished bed, he said he felt we had lost a certain degree of grandeur along with the extra mattress. But we're both glad to be able to get in and out of bed so much easier. ;)

Best of luck finding a mattress that will suit you.
