my 2000 silverado w/ a 5.3 vortec bogs down after start up please help?

this mostly happens when it is colder , or at least it is more noticeable.  but the first time i give it gas after starting it, its only has like 25% power,  this is a problem when you have to pull onto a busy street out of a parking lot.  it has 104000 miles (but it climbs 3000 feet elev every day since new)  and it had also been getting not so great gas mileage compared to usual.   i did had to replace the Fuel pump after running out of gas 10,000 miles ago,   but other than that nothing has been changed.  and it stops after that initial takeoff, but it needs the load, i cant just rev it. 

whats wrong?

Get your codes pulled ASAP.

The problem could also be a dirty fuel filter if it hasn't been changed recently.

In the mean time get a can of carburetor cleaner and do a little maintenance of your own.

With this, a few hand tools and a couple hours of your time you’ll have your engine running a lot smoother and this may even cure the problem.

Even if this doesn't cure the problem it will eliminate a few sources of false readings for when you have your computer codes pulled if you need to investigate further.
