Hi(:
Here is a review from a person who goes to Connections Academy that I found on Yahoo Answers.
~"Connections Academy is a great school. The work is pretty easy, but you still learn stuff and it's very flexible. There are no late grades and depending on the person and what classes are scheduled, you may only be working a few hours a day,and only have to do at least 20 hours of work in a school week (at least 4 per day) Unlike regular home schooling, you have 1 or 2 classes a week with your teachers and can ask for help from them whenever you need to during the day, either by phone or the school's email system, webmail. They give a good explanation on the work and you can work at your own pace. You do some bookwork but that usually isn't for a grade. A typical lesson goes like this: They give you a lesson that you read through with a video or two and then at the end of the lesson you either take a quick check or a quiz, usually quick checks. In a quick check, there are usually 2-5 easy questions that had 2 do with the lesson you just had. In a quiz it's usually about 10 questions going over the past few lessons you had. At the end of a unit, you usually take a test with multiple choice questions and maybe some essay questions that your teacher will grade. You have all the time that you want to take these. There are times that you might have to do labs, research papers, etc. in which you do it on a Word Document or Powerpoint and upload it at the end of the lesson and turn it into your teacher for him/her to grade. These are called Portfolios. As I mentioned, every week you will have lessons with your teachers. These are recommended, but under normal circumstances not mandatory, There aren't penalties if you miss them, but in case you do,they record the lesson and if they don't send it to everyone automatically through the webmail, you can ask for one.The classes are called Live Lessons. At a Live Lesson, the teacher will teach a class and the students can usually discuss things with one another through chat pods. I find these classes very helpful and it's fun to hang out with other students. The teachers are nice and usually funny because they don't really have to deal with a classroom full of rowdy kids. The only deadline you have is to turn in your work at the end of a semester, which is really the only published grades you'll have throughout the school year. There are many different Connections Academy school. You will go to one according to where you live. Not all states have Connections Academy, but many do. Once you are accepted for Connections Academy, before school starts they will send you some stuff for the school year. This includes books,a lab kit, head phones and mic for your Live Lessons, and a computer and monitor (1 per household). Sometimes Connections Academy will have outings in your area such as field trips or just get-togethers so you can meet other students. And they're not mandatory. Connections Academy is a good idea if you're a person that can stay relativey on-task. And if your a high-school student it doesn't really matter if your parents are home or not while you are doing your school work. They just need to approve your lessons after you've completed them and record your attendance-the number of hours of work you did that day. If they get behind its okay;my mom has gone over a week without doing our attendance and there's no consequence. Just make sure you remember how many hours you did. Here is some fun stuff about being home-schooled in general: you can stay in your pajamas all day if you want, you decide when you want to take a break, there aren't any jerks you have to put up with everyday,if you want you can get ahead on your work si you can take a day off go ahead, and it's sooo much less stressful."
Hope I Helped.(:

I go to Commonwealth Connections Academy (Pennsylvania). I am a Junior.
-The schedule is VERY flexible, you may be behind, or head of everyone else, as long as you're doing you're work, and doing it right. As long as you have all your assignments/classes done by the end of the semester, you are set!
-You do you classes whenever you feel like it! Midnight, 5 am, 5 pm, it doesn't matter! As long as you get it done. There are these things called Live Lessons, which all of your teachers from different subjects have, and it's basically the teacher teaching you the material you're learning, but they are not mandatory to attend. I only attend them if I need help with something.
-I'm not sure what you are asking about learning at your own pace?
-No, you cannot work ahead and accelerate to another grade. At least not that im aware of. But going ahead THAT far in your classes is frowned upon.
-Since I do attend the "high school" of Connections Academy, I would have to say yes, they do have a strong support system. Each individual teacher as their own e-mail, which is called "web-mail" for us students, and if you have a question on ANYTHING just email them and they get back to you within the hour. A lot of times they get back to you within minutes. All the teachers will go out of their way to help you, and make you succeed!!
- I have never attended k12, I haven't even heard of it. But coming from a CA student, I would 100% recommend this program.

Connections Academy! k12 i've heard nothing good about that expect for the home school curriculum So if you're parents want to teach you, use their curriculum but not their online school program. K12 I had bad experiences with them, I enrolled and waited for 2 and 1/2 months for a reply and the customer service was so bad, they kept sending me to voice mails. Point of story they made me wait a long time without knowing if i got accepted or not. I got accepted but that was until September, when school started a month before. They give you a laptop if you qualify like if you don't have good income or internet they workout a plan with you, since you have a laptop they won't give you one. Its most likely a desktop computer. While I was waiting I enrolled to Connections Academy because I needed a back up plan and they accepted me with in 5 days and have awesome customer service etc! They allowed me to pick my classes and schedule, everything :D K12 never even mention my classes, they all decided everything for me. I'm currently enrolled for my 9th and 10th grade year so I have tons of experience if you want to know more about the school!

I did K12 for 5 years, I loved it!
-The class schedule it really nice, you don't have to wake up at a certain time, you do things when you feel like it, and it is very laid out and easy to understand
-When I did it there were videos and online classes I would go to...they would be live at like 11ish (your teacher would tell you) and then if you missed it you could access it and watch it.
-You can go as slow or fast as you want just make sure you communicate with your teachers and they will help you along the way, but if you get to behind it can be super stressful and its no fun. One year I got really behind in math and I had to do double lessons and stuff but K12 really improved last year and like now they just help u out and stuff so don't be afraid of that :)
- I worked ahead a lot! I love English and so I was always a head on that but teachers will have a certain point were you can't go a head anymore. Idk about the next grade but probably more advance classes but with home school you never know...you maybe could!
-K12 gives everything you need to you!
-Over all I liked being home schooled a lot...I would go with K12, their school classes are really good and advanced. It is really flexible but at some points it is hard and stressful :p but it is school what do you expect? But the down about being home schooled is it is soooo boring!!! haha i hope this helps!

We signed up with Connections Academy and sent in all of the required documents and paperwork and we were never contacted by them once by email or phone! I made numerous phone calls and got transferred to alot of different departments but no one there at the call center was willing to help, they just kept sending me to someone different and nobody there had any competence. Finally after 3 weeks, we were fed up with them and decided to sign up with K12 instead and by the next business day we were contacted by the teacher who was anxious to get the ball rolling! Since we are in Utah, we got redirected to the Utah school that deals with k12 and it has been great so far. I regret not choosing k12 from the beginning because we wasted alot of time trying to get started with connections academy! They made her 2 wks late starting school. We are going onto the 4th wk and we still haven't been contacted by them! It seems as though they don't want to have any students! They should be the ones harassing us about getting her started, not the other way around. It makes no sense at all! Very bad stressful experience!

These days you can learn how to speak Spanish over the internet. Check out this online course, it's voted as the best Spanish online course of all time: http://www.rocketlearner.com/spanish The course is very easy to follow, I was able to learn Spanish in just 3 months.
I live in New York City, I wanted to go to a Spanish language teacher but that would have cost me over $800 per month. Good thing with this internet, $800 it's a lot of money for me.

If you want to learn Spanish from a native then decide on a on the web program simply because the greatest way to find out good Spanish is from a native speaker.
