What is a coffee press?

Old me, what is a coffee press and can you explain step by step, how to use it? Does it take coffee or coffee beans? Do you have to boil water and put it in? Does it take filters? Please thanks

A coffee press is typically a specialized jar, often glass. You put in ground coffee, pour hot water into it, then let it steep.

You then push a mesh-lined plunger into it right before serving, which strains the grounds from the coffee. It doesn't use paper cone filters.

You'd be better off using your favorite search engine (Google, Yahoo, Bing, whatever) to search for "coffee press" and look at pictures.
