next time you see him tell him that your best friend is interested in him and while you yourself are interested in him. you dont want to hurt you relationship with your friend.

depending on his reaction you can try introducing him to your friend, if obviously shows that he is more interested in you then your friend than friend should be a little understanding if you two started to hang out together. you should also tell you friend what has been happening, keeping it behind your back that he likes you and your starting to like you seems far more suspicious and unfriendly than telling the open truth, as scary as that sometimes it.

if your friend gives up her interest in the guy it would then be acceptable for you to date/hang out. it would make your friend feel very awkward if you started hanging out with the guy she liked and everyone had no idea you were interested in him.

i think you should be honest with your friend. nowadays it's hard to find someone you like and they like you back. especially with timing and stuff.... i think you should tell her. you would never want to miss a chance like this, if you don't do it you might regret it later on. i think your friend might understand.
